Is it July Yet?

Well, we weathered recital week, from rehearsals on Monday and Tuesday nights to dancing all four of the days, Thursday through Sunday. The girls had it rough. They danced in six different numbers two of the four days, and four numbers each of the four days. I danced every night in the mother and daughter tap dance, then I danced Saturday and Sunday in my two jazz numbers and the finale. I want to give a shout-out to Auntie Shell for helping with Brigid on Sunday. It meant we could perform without me worrying about her, or about Jack, whose back is out badly this week. He had a miserable time at the recital Saturday night because most of it was spent trying to chase Brigid around outside. But now it’s over until September when we’ll have another dancer in the family – Brigid is chomping at the bit to get up there and dance. At least Jack will finally be able to watch the recital because Brigid will be up there dancing.

Hell month continues this week as Patricia prepares for a choral concert tonight and a drama club performance on Friday, with rehearsals every day up until the performance. Next week, the girls go to school for two full days and then exams start on the 17th. They have different exams different days through part of the week after that. Then on June 25, they go to school in the morning to pick up report cards. Margaret then has a moving-up ceremony in the auditorium. Then they’re done for the year. And Brigid has her last day at Sibley June 26. We’re talking her out for the summer, which made the most sense financially since you pay whether the child is there or not and we’ll be out a few weeks during the contract anyway.

The St. Peter’s June festival is June 28, so that means I have to get the books organized the few days leading up to that. When the festival is done, then I can take a breath. Summer will truly have started then.
